Hostel mess charges hiked

Chief Minister K Chandra shekhar Rao on Monday announced a hike in hostel mess charges benefiting 18 lakh students from Class III to degree level in the State. The hike would result in an additional financial burden of Rs 117 crore on the State exchequer. “The State is topping the list in welfare and students’ needs cannot be ignored,” he said.

The mess charges for students from Class III to Class VII will be increased from Rs 750 to Rs 950 per month, Rs 850 to Rs 1,100 for students from class VIII to Class X and Rs 1,050 to 1,400 for Intermediate and degree students. In the case of students pursuing professional courses, the mess charge will be hiked from Rs 962 to Rs 1,500 per month. The hike of mess price will ensure with good quality of food to the students.
